What does English 9-10 do?
Students will respond both personally and critically to a variety of literature, including novels, short stories, drama, poetry, and non-fiction. Students will work toward becoming competent and effective users and creators of a wide variety of texts in diverse contexts, including digital texts. Through purposeful communication, learners can develop competencies in listening to understand; communicating effectively; presenting information and ideas with confidence and fluency; and understanding the connections between language and culture.
This course is designed to support students in their development of written communication through a critical process of questioning, exploring, and sampling. This course will develop their craft through processes of drafting, reflecting, and revising and provide students with opportunities for performance, storytelling, and public speaking. This course meets the graduation requirement for English Language Arts 10.

What you need for English
For English 9-10 students generally need writing tools like pencils, pens including red blue and black pen, erasers, highlighters with all the colors of the rainbow, a binder with dividers dividing all the units of the class. You might also need a Chrome book, a laptop or a charged device whenn you get to Grade 10 since you may get projects that needs researching. Sticky notes are optional but you should get them just in case your teachers asks you to get some.
