This Class with focus on teaching you history, english (grammar, punctuation, etc.), and projects. In my opinion, this class is pretty fun and enjoyable as long as you follow the teacher's steps. The projects are mostly fun and you'll have some good memories created during the course.

SS: SOCIAL STUDIES 9

Prerequisite: Humanities 8

In this course, we’re going to step back in time to explore the dramatic shifts of the 17th through 19th centuries—a period that fundamentally shaped the world we live in today. We’ll dive into the heart of Western Civilization and Pre-Confederation Canada, looking at the political, social, and technological revolutions that changed everything from how people worked to how they governed themselves. Crucially, we’ll look beyond the headlines to examine the deep and lasting impacts of imperialism and colonialism on Indigenous peoples, alongside the massive global migrations that moved people across the planet. As we trace the rise of modern nations and the tensions sparked by nationalism, we’ll also ground our study in the land itself, exploring Canada’s unique physical geography and the powerful geological forces that carved out its rugged landscape. It’s a journey that connects our past to our present, helping us make sense of the complex identity of our country and our world.

SS: SOCIAL STUDIES 10

Prerequisite: Social Studies 9

Social Studies 10 is designed to help you find your own voice as a citizen by building on the skills you’ve been practicing since Grade 8. Instead of just memorizing dates, you’ll be learning how to investigate the world, analyze what you find, and clearly communicate your own perspective. We’ll dive into how our government actually works and explore the different political and economic "big ideas" that shape our society. Together, we’ll look at how Canada’s identity has evolved—facing the hard truths of discriminatory policies and conflicts, while also exploring our country's role in the global economy. A central part of our journey will be understanding First Peoples' governance and our shared responsibility in the path toward Truth and Reconciliation.

SS: EXPLORATIONS IN SOCIAL STUDIES 11

Prerequisite: Social Studies 10

This course is all about giving us the flexibility to dive into the stories and issues that actually matter to you. Instead of a one-size-fits-all approach, we’ve designed it to be an engaging look at the 20th and 21st centuries, focusing on topics that hit close to home. We’ll explore the innovations that changed our daily lives, look honestly at the ongoing impacts of colonialism for Indigenous peoples here and abroad, and debate how we can better manage our natural resources. We’ll also make plenty of space to talk about your rights as a Canadian, compare different cultures and religions, and pull back the curtain on how modern media influences the way we see the world. It’s a chance to follow your curiosity and see how these big, global themes shape our own backyard.
